Say Hello To My Newest Consultant

La Sonya Thomas-Wise

La Sonya is a native of Atlanta Georgia and a mother of a daughter and two little boys!  One reason why I introduced La Sonya to the Mary Kay oppourtunity was that she was always willing to make a bad situation into a good one, her pleasant attitude, her willingness to achieve new goals, and that she wanted to provide for her family without devoting all her time at another job.

La Sonya you have already took one step towards securing your future...you stepped outside of your comfort zone...you stepped out of the box!!!

Below are others who have recently loved their facials and makeovers:

Throw Away the Manual (and Find Your Own Way into Business)

And that's exactly what I did.  I couldn't locate my piece of the "American Pie" while I was in college, so I decided to try my faith and step out on a limb.  Actually, I was pushed off.  I used to be the Supervisor of Medical Records, and my company was suppose to be the "christian family" type, and I must admit that it was the worst company that I have ever worked for.  I cringed at any other company that used the terms "christian family" loosely.  I knew that my worked wasn't appreciated, but for it to be placed in my face everyday...all day was alittle too much to ask for.  I was constantly having to watch my back, copy everything, and save all information; because you never knew who would try to blame an assignment on you in the next given hour.  I was putting in application after application at different companies trying to get as far from this "christian family" company that I could, but it seemed like no one was hiring.  One of my coworkers introduced me to the Mary Kay business and at first I must admit that I was sceptical, but after seeing her collect money for orders every friday I decieded to give it a shot.  I signed the agreement and paid my $100 for my starter kit and set my sights on trying to average an additional $50 a week (something that I could use to pamper myself with).  I decided to try out family and friends and borrow their faces to perfect my skills in giving facials.  I made over $300 in about two hours...I was hooked!  So I decided that if I could replace my income that I made in two weeks in a week with Mary Kay I would quit, but life always throws us curve balls.  On Tuesday at 3:30 PM (I was leaving at 4) my supervisor called a department meeting and informed us that they were laying us off and that we didn't need to clock out for the rest of the day (thirthy minutes?!), because they had lost some clients.  Now every Tuesday all the department supervisors had a meeting that sometimes lasted for two hours, and in this meeting they were suppose to tell us which clients that they gained and the ones they had lost...no one mention a thing.  And we didn't lose just one or two clients, we lost almost all of them...almost three weeks ago (they just didn't want us to take time off to look for other employment)!  This is when I decided to go at Mary Kay full force and I haven't looked back.  It's opened up doors for me to go to classes to become certified for Medical Coding, and to try and start a small trucking company.  So thank you "christian family" company for pushing me out on that small limb, and the biggest thanks goes out to myself; for believing in myself so that I didn't fall!!!  Take the step out...

If You're Gonna Buy Caviar, Make It Beluga

Simple states; don't be cheap! I've always been the type of person who puts quality over quanity. Meaning I'll pay the extra dollars to have the real thing which will feel better on my skin, last ten times longer, or taste a hell of alot better! I once knew this woman who only bought generic products. Everything that she purchased was generic; not realizing that in the long run she was cheating herself. She would go to the grocery store and buy generic peanut butter at $1.65, when the Skippy or Jeffy only cost $1.30. Knowing that she needed a ceiling fan in her guest bedroom she went and purchased one that cost $40, instead of buying one of some quality. She lost out on 35 cents but pennies make dollars, and she couldn't return the fan for a refund, so every time that it went down (which was like every other month) she would go and purchase another cheap ass fan when she could have bought a good one and saved herself maybe about $100, because $40 quickly adds up. I say this because alot of times we cheat ourselves in lives instead of treating ourselves. And the ones who do stop and take the time out and treat theirselves get catergorized...label whore, siddy, or stuck up. Well I'll be all three and whatever else you can come up with. Let's remember that we only have one life to live.

Better yet here's another analogy...I went into the supermarket and I wanted some grapes. They were on sale, but I didn't want to pay over two dollars for the pound (being cheap...out of character), so I grabbed the small bag, weighed it, and then purchased it. Well I'm trying this new thing where when I get hungry I eat fruits (because the nutritionist says that you can eat as much fruit and raw vegetables that you want in a day), so I was pulling out the grapes, washing them, and putting them in a bowl. Mouth ready for them...pop one in...sour. O-kay let's try another....pop another in...still sour. I purchased an entire bag of sour grapes! If I would have went ahead and put just a couple more dollars to get the plump grapes I wouldn't be having this problem. So think about it and tell me what you want; a life of sour grapes or a life of plump, sweet, juicy, and delicious grapes. Just a thought!
